'We're in the meat of November here': Another storm headed to Metro Vancouver

'This one is going to bring a fair amount of wind with it.'

As Vancouver recovers from one November storm, another one approaches.

While Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday will be relatively calm with light showers, Tuesday evening will bring another storm, Environment Canada meteorologist Ross Macdonald tells V.I.A.

"We're left with an unsettled weather pattern for today and into tomorrow," he says, noting there will be moments of sunshine between the clouds.

Broadly speaking, highs will sit around 7 and 8 C over that period, he adds.

However, the next organized weather system is soon approaching B.C.'s coast with a lot of wind.

"We're going to ramp up the rain Tuesday night," Macdonald says. "This one is going to bring a fair amount of wind with it."

Gusts will reach 70 or 80 km/h along the ocean's shore, he explains, with exposed areas including Tsawassen, Delta, UBC, and Point Atkinson seeing the highest speeds. Areas further inland will experience much slower winds, with gusts up to 40 km/h in eastern parts of the city and metro area.

While it'll be a windy night for Metro Vancouver, Vancouver Island will experience the strongest parts of the storm.

"It certainly will be a pretty stormy night on Tuesday night," Macdonald says. "That rain will continue lightly into Wednesday."

Luckily, the storm won't bring as much rain, with 20 to 30 mm expected for neighbourhoods on the North Shore Mountains, where rains will be worst. That's expected from Tuesday night through Wednesday.

Beyond that, it looks like another frontal system is headed to the region on Friday, Nov. 22.

"We're in the meat of November here," Macdonald says. "There are lots of frontal systems and rainy days for us here in Vancouver."

It's unclear at this point what exactly the Friday storm will bring, but as of Sunday, Nov. 17, Weatherhood is forecasting 22 mm of rain for downtown Vancouver on Friday, Nov. 22.
