Guru Nanak Food Bank in North Delta is excited to announce its second annual School Supply Drive, taking place on Aug. 26 at 11188 84 Ave. and Aug. 27 at 15299 68 Ave. from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The drive aims to support the upcoming school session for Delta School District and Surrey School District students.
This year's School Drive is particularly special as it marks the first drive in Delta and will be entirely run by school kids who are volunteering with Guru Nanak Food Bank.
The organization has generously decided to donate all the collected supplies to the school districts, recognizing the increased need for assistance and the importance of a strong educational foundation.
To make this School Drive a success and ensure that every child receives the support they need, Guru Nanak Food Bank is requesting donations of the following essential school supplies: crayons, coloured pencils, washable markers, Jumbo No. 2 pencils, pencil grips, pencil sharpener, glue sticks, erasers, kids scissors, plastic folders, notebooks, tissues, backpacks, assorted construction paper, lunch box, gift cards, Sharpie, sticky notes, and red and blue ball point pens.
“Education is the key to a better future, and we believe in providing quality education to all,” said Neeraj Walia, operational head of the Guru Nanak Food Bank. “We urge our community members to come forward and donate these much-needed school supplies to support our students' success.”
Donations can be made in person at the drive locations or through various methods such as E-transfer, cash, credit card, cheque, or online at https://gnfb.ca/our-causes/.
“Your contributions can have a profound impact on the lives of thousands of Canadian youngsters who rely on food banks and other charitable organizations,” added Walia. “We want every child to start the new school year with happiness and confidence.”
Guru Nanak Food Bank extends heartfelt gratitude to the Delta School District, City of Delta, Delta Police, Delta Fire Department, Delta Chamber of Commerce, Surrey School District, Surrey Board of Trade, Surrey Police Services, and all the media partners for their support and collaboration in this noble cause.
