With a commitment to advancing Christian education and the desire to reimagine educational practice, Bryan Young is eager to step into the role of principal at Delta Christian School.
Young is a lifelong Richmondite where he attended Richmond Christian School and graduated from Steveston Secondary. Young, his wife Wendy and their son Rhys reside in the Steveston area where they appreciate bike rides along the dike trail and access to a diverse selection of culinary options.
In recent years, Young has provided oversight to the Direct blended learning program at Traditional Learning Academy. As vice-principal, his energy has been directed towards the implementation of personalized and flexible learning options for K-12 students facilitated by online tools and educational technology.
This program has pushed forward the ideas of the 21st century learner, reflecting the direction of B.C.’s new curriculum.
Believing that learning should be a lifelong pursuit, Young’s inquiring mind has led him to study applied Christian theology, marketing and public relations, online learning and technology, educational leadership and STEM education.
As a teacher, his specialization is in the area of middle school science, technology and math education. It is a common sight for students to be working with their hands in the classroom.
Valuing opportunities for international travel and cross-cultural experiences, the highlights of their journeys have taken Bryan and Wendy to China, Italy, Australia and Hawaii.
They have been involved with educational camps for displaced communities and youth leadership training in Cambodia as part of outreach with their church.
