Loic Johl’s talent and passion for music goes well beyond being a member of the Delta Secondary School concert band.
The 15-year-old from Ladner is also an up-and-coming singer/songwriter and musician who on Dec. 29 released his latest single “Coincidences” on Spotify and Apple Music. It will also be part of his upcoming debut EP.
Johl says his taste in music has evolved over time which also reflects his latest work.
“I was studying jazz bass while being into many rock bands. Later on, I got into lots of pop and rhythm and blues,” explained Johl, who has been making music since he was 10. “That led to me starting to make similar music but with a unique approach because I base my music around harmony instead of melody.
“It makes my music have an unmatched sound (in a good way).”
Johl also has high praise for his vocal lessons with Ladner musician Schara Chalmers.
