The Ladner Village Market will have new operators starting in 2024.
On Thursday morning, the City of Delta announced that it has entered into an agreement with Ladner Village Market Ltd. to assume the assets and operation of the Ladner Village Market for the 2024 and 2025 seasons.
The City of Delta said it recognizes the important role that the Market plays in the community as a gathering space for connection, bringing together individuals of all ages and interests from across Delta and neighbouring cities, all while supporting tourism, local businesses, and Delta’s agricultural and artisan communities.
“The Ladner Village Market has been an integral part of Ladner Village for 27 years and synonymous with summer in Delta,” said the Ladner Village Market managers in a news release. “Our team approached the city to take over upon our retirement, knowing the leadership at Delta will honour the history of the Market and help it to flourish into the future.
“Mayor Harvie and members of council appreciate the values of the Market and we believe they will continue to uphold these values. The Ladner Village Market has been a training ground for youth and a springboard for many successful entrepreneurs in our community. We look forward to seeing this continue at the Market in 2024 and beyond.”
This year the city will work with the owners of Ladner Village Market Ltd. to ensure vendors and patrons will continue to enjoy the market as always, while preparing for a smooth transition to Delta in November. Delta plans to build on the success and history of the Market in Ladner and will prioritize a seamless transition to benefit all those who come to this incredible community event.
“We are so fortunate in Delta to have such an eclectic and vibrant local market,” added Mayor George Harvie. “I want to thank the McKnight family and Jan Salvador for their dedication to and passion for making the Ladner Village Market such an integral summer event in our community. The local talent we have in our agricultural and artisan communities shine bright at the Market each year and I am pleased that the City of Delta can play a role in continuing to grow the Market for our community to enjoy.”
