The number of people in the City of Delta who contracted the coronavirus is continuing a steady climb over the last few weeks.
According to the B.C. Centre for Disease Control's weekly COVID-19 community map, which covered the period March 14 to 20, Delta had 141 people infected.
The numbers list Delta as a whole and do not break down into specific areas of the community like North Delta, Ladner or Tsawwassen.
City of Delta officials have been asking for this area by area breakdown of the city since the pandemic began last year, but this request has not been answered.
Meanwhile, according to the BCCDC map this week, Surrey stood at 946 cases, Richmond at 126 cases, Vancouver at 616 cases and Burnaby at 273 cases.
Delta is utilizing its seniors’ buses to provide older residents free transportation to local clinics. Phone 604-597-4876 for information.
According to the Fraser Health Authority daily list of schools in Delta that have had recent COVID-19 exposure events, just four are on the list as the spring break nears conclusion.
Those schools were Immaculate Conception (March 11), Gibson Elementary (March 11, 12), McCloskey Elementary and North Delta Secondary (March 11).
School returns to session on Monday following the two-week spring break.
