Delta firefighters have contained an apartment fire in North Delta.

At approximately 4:15 p.m. Delta Police responded to a call to assist the Delta Fire Department with an active apartment fire in the 11800 block of 80th Avenue.

"The fire was contained to a single apartment and has been extinguished," said Acting Insp. James Sandberg in an email to the Optimist just before 6 p.m. Tuesday night. "The Delta Police Department will be remaining on scene over night and a fire investigation will commence tomorrow. There were no injuries caused by this fire."

Sandberg said the occupants of the building were evacuated, but are currently in the process of returning to their own suites.

As a result of the fire, 80th Ave was closed in the 11800 block, but 80th Ave. has now re-opened.
