The Delta Hospital and Community Health Foundation is honoured to announce one of its largest donations in the Foundation’s 32-year history.
A remarkable gift of $1 million was recently presented to the Foundation by local philanthropists Gordie and Wendy Christoff.
This generous donation is designated to support the future of seniors care at Delta Hospital.
“As Delta residents we feel very passionate about giving back to our community that we care so deeply about,” says Gordie and Wendy Christoff. “The seniors in Delta have helped create the wonderful community that we have the privilege of living in today. As such, it is essential to ensure they have access to the very best health care possible; services that provide them with the support and dignity they deserve at this stage of their lives.”
Seniors currently make up 15 to 20 per cent of Delta’s population. By 2024, this is expected to increase to 41 per cent. This is one of the oldest patient populations in all of Fraser Health.
According to the Foundation, over the past several years, it has become increasingly evident that Delta’s seniors need additional and more readily accessible healthcare services in our community. In response, the DHCH Foundation is prioritizing the future of seniors care by supporting needs that will enable the very best care, equipment, and resources for this important patient population.
“We are extremely grateful to have received this generous gift from the Christoff family,” says Foundation executive director Lisa Hoglund. “This transformative donation will significantly help us plan for the future of exemplary seniors care in our community. Our goal is to provide Delta’s seniors with the opportunity to stay in the community they love, surrounded by friends, family, and exceptional healthcare services.”
