With the Sept. 28 deadline for candidate nominations closing, the list of those running for Delta North remains to be clarified.

So far, Raj Veauli, with BC Conservatives, Housing Minister Ravi Kahlon for the NDP, and Manqoosh Khan, with the Freedom Party of B.C., are listed on the Elections BC website.

While BC United leader Kevin Falcon announced in late August that he’s suspending the party’s campaign for the Oct. 19 election, the intent of the party’s candidate in Delta North remains to be seen.

Amrit Pal Singh Dhot announced in the spring that he was BC United’s candidate and is still listed on the party’s website, although he’s not on Elections BC’s list of candidates for the riding.

Dhot did not return the Optimist's phone calls.

Falcon, in an open letter Aug. 28, announced he was suspending the BC United campaign so that supporters could back the BC Conservatives.

However, the letter gave no clear direction on the fate of former BC United candidates.

BC Conservative party leader John Rustad, announced on Tuesday that former BC United MLA for Delta South, Ian Paton, is running for the BC Conservatives, along with Peter Milobar, MLA for Kamloops-North Thompson (and now Conservative candidate in Kamloops Centre), and Trevor Halford, MLA for Surrey-White Rock.
