Delta North MLA Ravi Kahlon has been appointed to Premier John Horgan’s New Democrat cabinet.
Kahlon, 41, was sworn in Thursday as Minister of Jobs, Economic Recovery and Innovation during a virtual ceremony at the University of Victoria.
Horgan announced that his 24-member cabinet will focus on keeping people healthy and safe through the COVID-19 pandemic.
The new cabinet members are tasked with continuing government's cross-ministry response to the pandemic, providing better health care for people and families, delivering affordability and security in B.C.'s communities, and investing in good jobs and livelihoods in a clean-energy future, according to a news release.
Kahlon in his first term as MLA served as Parliamentary Secretary for Sport and Multiculturalism and later as Parliamentary Secretary for Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development.
In last month’s provincial election he finished with 56.78 per cent of the popular vote in his riding.
