The City of Delta is planning another roadway improvement project and wants to hear from residents.
The city is undertaking a survey and will hold an information session on proposed 7A Avenue roadway improvements, between 52 and 53 streets in Tsawwassen.
The project includes a new concrete sidewalk along the north side of 7A Avenue, two rain gardens, as well as road rehabilitation and widening, the installation of LED streetlights and provision of parking on both sides.
A preliminary design is available for public feedback, with construction tentatively scheduled for the fall of 2025.
The information session takes place Thursday, Sept. 26 at the South Delta Secondary cafeteria, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, the city has yet to present a preliminary design for the proposed 3 Avenue Roadway Improvements Project, from Boundary Bay Road to Centennial Parkway.
Last year, the city put forward an initial concept that included protected cycling lanes, new sidewalks, parking pockets along 3 Avenue east of 65B Street, grassed boulevards with street trees, new decorative LED street lighting, crosswalk upgrades with pedestrian activated flashing beacons and other improvements.
Construction is tentatively scheduled for 2025, subject to council approval.
An area resident conveyed concerns about the proposal, noting a series of issues including the city taking an easement on either side of the road, that would be an encroachment bringing noise closer to front doors, the loss of parking and other concerns.
That resident asked for more options to be presented by the city.
