Let’s head back to the October 1965 pages of the Optimist when Ferguson Motors ran an ad for the newest models that were certainly big.
The 1966 Mercury Park Lane four-door hardtop’s “magnificent new style and lavish interiors are nothing more than breathtaking with a complete choice of magnificent appointments.”
The Comet Cyclone two-door hardtop with optional twin scoop GT hood was described as a “big, new generation” and that “It’s Longer! It’s wider! It’s roomier.”
Buyers were enticed by the extra size Comet having “up to 335 zesty horsepower. It’s the big new captivating car of the year.”
Located at 5045-48 Avenue, the auto dealer had a franchise from the Ford Motor Company of Canada or the complete line of Ford products.
Ferguson Motors would supply customers with Mercury, Meteor, Comet, Falcon, Fairline, Thunderbird, British-built Ford products, Ford trucks, Ford tractors and equipment.
After the dealership underwent an extensive remodelling two years prior, president Dick Ferguson said, “I have confidence in the future of Ladner, and I am showing this confidence in a positive way.”
The business was opened by his father, H.D. Ferguson, in July 1946.
