The City of Delta is hosting a public information meeting next week on another proposed townhouse development in Ladner.
The session on Wednesday, May 1, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Hawthorne Elementary School gymnasium will be an opportunity to get more information and ask questions about the project called Wildwood Townhouses, which has not gone to council for consideration.
Located at 4900 Central Ave., behind the Trenant Park Square shopping mall, the proposed 40-unit development would consist of six, three-story buildings, 80 residential parking spaces and nine visitor parking spaces. Vehicular and pedestrian access to the development would be from Central Avenue.
According to the planning department, the rezoning proposal is consistent with the site’s designation under the current Official Community Plan (OCP). That means a public hearing would not be required.
According to the city’s proposed new OCP, the focus of future growth in and around Ladner Village would be along the Ladner Trunk Road corridor and in areas near the Ladner Exchange.
By 2051, Ladner is anticipated to see a population increase of close to 10,400 in 4,100 new homes. Of that growth, approximately 4,300 people and 2,050 new homes are anticipated within the Ladner corridor/ Municipal Town Centre.
In total, Ladner’s 2051 population is estimated at 34,400 people.
