When is the last time someone asked you how you were doing, and you told them you were over-busy and tired, and then they ended up telling you how over-busy and tired they were? Who is there for us when we need someone to understand and help?

The psalm-writer knows what this is like: "From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I." (Psalm 61: 2)

We need someone "higher than" we are at that given moment of need. The Bible leads us to the rock "that is higher than I" in the person of Jesus.

We live in an eagle-rich place. Eagles in all their strength and beauty can serve as reminders that God is there for us.

The following is from Isaiah 40: "Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength.

They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Wow, now that is a lot higher than I; I never thought I could fly! But I'm open to try.
