A modified vehicle crashed into a parked car in Delta Thursday witnessed by a Delta police officer which is now prompting a warning from police.

On Thursday, a Delta police traffic officer witnessed a jeep with oversized tires fail to make a turn, resulting in a collision with a parked car.

Police say this is an unfortunate example of how illegal vehicle modifications can lead to accidents, which is why they are advising the public about the dangers of modified vehicles.

Think twice before altering your ride: you may think they look cool, but illegal vehicle modifications are contrary to Motor Vehicle Act Regulations. Just because a shop offers it doesn’t make it legal.

Stay compliant: drivers can be made to remove illegal alterations or return their vehicle to a legal condition.

Be aware: vehicles with illegal modifications can be removed from the roadway.

Keep it quiet: loud exhausts and other extreme modifications disturb the community with unnecessary noise.
