Rush hour traffic was jammed up this morning after a crash between a semi-truck and a charter bus closed the Ladner Trunk Road onramp for two hours.

At about 5:30 Tuesday morning, a commercial tractor-trailer and a highway coach bus were travelling northbound on Highway 99.

According to police, the two vehicles made contact on the highway, causing both to veer off the road and crash through a cement median before coming to rest against a fence. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage.

Both drivers were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There were no passengers on the bus.

Deas Island RCMP, Delta police and Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement were all on scene, and both vehicles were undergoing a mechanical inspection.

The crash is still under investigation and police could not say yet what factors contributed to the crash.
