North Delta Crime Beat: More catalytic converter thefts this week

Files of interest for this week from Delta Police.

The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *March 20, 8900 Block of 112th Street: Complainant reported their unlocked vehicle, parked on the street, was entered sometime overnight and their wallet stolen from the glove compartment. Several transactions had been made on the stolen credit and debit cards sometime during the night. Cards have now been cancelled with the bank.  Investigation to continue with a list of stolen items and any further transactions.

*March 20, 7300 Block of 120th Street: A business reported that a male had stolen an electric scooter valued at $1,300 from the receiving bay. The male was described as South Asian, mid 30’s, 5’10” tall, slim build, bald with a goatee. Police provided with surveillance video. 

*March 21, PSB 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant reported an online fraud, which occurred on Linkedin. A contract and cheques were sent to the complainant with instructions to deposit and then transfer the funds. A total of $3,860 was transferred to the suspect before the fraud was discovered. The bank is investigating and attempting to recover the funds. Complainant advised to contact Equifax and Canadian Anti-Fraud and provided with information on fraud prevention.

*March 22, 600 Block of Ridley Place: An online report was received from a complainant reporting fuel siphoned from their truck located at their business. Surveillance video revealed two suspects arriving in a vehicle and siphoning the gas from the vehicle. As a result of the poor quality of the surveillance, no further avenues of investigation are available.

*March 26, 11200 Block of 78th Avenue: Complainant reported the theft of the catalytic converter from their vehicle parked on the street in front of their residence. Theft and damage estimated at $2,300.  No witnesses or surveillance video.

*March 26, 11200 Block of 78A Avenue: Report received from complainant of the theft of the catalytic converter from their vehicle parked on the street in front of their residence.  Complainant alerted to the theft by the sound of a grinding noise and observed a person flee the area in a silver sedan.

*March 26, 10000 Doncaster Crescent: Complainant reported the theft of the catalytic converter from their courtesy vehicle parked on the street in front of their residence.  Witness revealed the suspect vehicle to be a small four door silver sedan. Damage and theft valued at approximately at $2,300.
