North Delta Crime Beat: Several thefts from vehicles reported

The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. If you see anything occurring that you believe to be suspicious, call 911 for in-progress crimes and emergencies or 604-946-4411 for other assistance. 

*Jan. 4, 8000 Block of Nordel Way: Vehicle stopped for travelling at 118 km/h in a 60 km/h zoned as per radar. The driver was given a speeding ticket and the vehicle impounded for seven days. Driver left the scene in a taxi.

*Jan. 4, 10700 Block of 80th Avenue: Complainant reported the catalytic converter stolen from their vehicle sometime over the past several days. No suspects, witnesses, or surveillance video.

*Jan. 6, 7900 Block of 82nd Street: Complainant reported they had left their vehicle parked in the area while they were out of town for a couple of days. When they returned, they found both license plates missing and a different plate partially attached to the front of the vehicle. Police attended, but area negative for surveillance video. Plates added to the Canadian Police Information Centre as stolen.

*Jan. 6, 9100 Block of Norum Road: Complainant reported the catalytic converter stolen from their vehicle sometime overnight. Surveillance video too grainy and too far away to observe the suspects other then it being a darker vehicle. Surveillance video canvass of the neighbourhood was negative.

*Jan. 7, 8200 Block of Sheaves Road: Complainant reported the theft from their vehicle, sometime overnight, from outside their home. Access gained by tampering with the driver’s side door lock. Vehicle rummaged through with keys and fob for a work vehicle stolen.  Incident still under investigation pending the receipt of neighbourhood surveillance video.

*Jan. 7, 10300 Johnson Wynd: Report received of an unidentified male entering a vehicle parked in front of the residence and stealing headphones, sunglasses, and business cards.  Photo images from surveillance video to be disseminated for possible identification.

*Jan. 7, 10400 Block of Dunlop Road: Complainant reported they left their unlocked vehicle parked on the street and, during the night, several items valued at $300 were stolen from the vehicle. Surveillance video too blurred for possible identification of the suspect.
