The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *Oct. 10, 8600 Block of Brooke Road: Complainant reported their unlocked vehicle was entered sometime overnight and $8,400 worth of camping gear stolen. Suspects also attempted to enter a camper but were not successful. Damage to camper door approximately $1,500.
*Oct. 13, 11900 Block of 80th Avenue: The manager of a senior’s building reported that video surveillance showed a male entering the building in the middle of the night by using a screw driver to open the door and proceed to break into eight mailboxes and gather the contents. Police to be provided with the video surveillance.
*Oct. 13, 700 Block of Belgrave: Complainant reported the theft, sometime overnight, of a trailer with an Indiana license from a business’ parking lot. Complainant indicted that the GPS on the trailer was pinging in Abbotsford and that the Abbotsford Police had located the trailer and returned it to the complainant. The trailer had been ransacked and approximately $15,000 worth of merchandise was stolen. Theft under investigation upon receipt of video surveillance.
*Oct. 13, 9600 Block of River Road: A business reported four rolls of electrical wire, valued at $1,200, had been stolen from a shipping container on the property. It is believed the suspect entered the property via an unlocked gate. Police advised the business to install video surveillance or hire security to patrol through the night.
*Oct. 15, 10700 Block of 84th Avenue: Complainant reported a package containing $100 worth of Sephora beauty supplies had been stolen from their front door. Video surveillance revealed a Caucasian male, medium build, wearing black clothing and a red/black baseball cap reading “We the North” stealing the package. A second suspect was acting as a lookout. Photo of the suspect disseminated for possible identification.
*Oct. 15, 3300 Block of 72nd Street: Report received from complainant that sometime during the afternoon their purse had been taken from their car parked on the street. The purse is described as a navy blue “Vera Pelle” valued at $250. No items of value in the purse. No witnesses found to the incident. File number provided to the complainant for reporting purposes.
*Oct. 17, 7600 Block of Garrett Drive: Complainant reported they had received a call from a male posing as a lawyer demanding $9,000 for the release of their son who had been arrested for driving while on their cellphone. The complainant agreed to pay the money and a South Asian male arrived at their residence to retrieve the money which they provided to the suspect for a total of $9,000. The fraud still under investigation.
