The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *Sept. 19, 1300 Block of Derwent Way: A business reported someone gained access to the rear lot’s container storage area and stole an unknown amount of tools from seven shipping containers sometime over the past several days. The locks on all seven containers had been broken. No witnesses or surveillance video in the area.
*Sept. 19, 1400 Block of Cliveden Avenue: Complainant reported the theft sometime over the weekend from their locked vehicle in the parking lot. The lock on the back of the vehicle had been cut. Two Yamaha pianos and amps with a total value of $4,000 stolen. Security cameras in area, but none pointing to the vehicle. File number provided to the complainant for insurance purposes.
*Sept. 20, Nordel Way & 120th Street: Police received a call from a citizen providing the license plate number of a vehicle where the driver was possibly impaired. Police located and stopped the vehicle on the Alex Fraser Bridge. The driver provided two breath samples which both read “Fail.” As a result they were given an immediate 90-day roadside prohibition and the vehicle was impounded.
*Sept. 24, PSB 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant received an email from a person who they assumed to be their boss and provided their personal cell phone number. As directed, the complainant purchased $1,300 worth of iTune gift cards and submitted them to the person purporting to be their boss before they realized they were the victim of fraud. The complainant has informed their credit card company who indicated they would be conducting an investigation for possible reimbursement.
*Sept. 24, 8900 Block of Watson Drive: Complainant reported that sometime overnight their vehicle, parked outside their residence, had been broken into. Both the trunk and driver’s side door were found open. The vehicle had been rummaged through and approximately $1,000 worth of items including Callaway and Hawkeye golf clubs, golf balls, and golf shoes stolen. Empty pop cans left by the suspects to be examined by identification services for possible finger prints.
*Sept. 25, 11900 Block of 88th Avenue: Complainant reported the theft of their 2009 Green Jeep Compass parked in the mall while they were shopping. The vehicle added to the Canadian Police Information Centre as stolen. Surveillance video requested from the shopping centre.
