North Delta Crime Beat: Video surveillance captures theft

Report received from complainant that sometime overnight the catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle

The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. Oct. 17, 11100 Block of 84th Avenue:  Complainant reported they were sitting on the front steps of a business and when they left they forgot their purse.  When they returned a short time later the purse was gone.  The bag is medium black containing a brown leather wallet which contains a credit card, ID, and $20 cash.  The purse also contains headphones and a pearl necklace.  Credit cards cancelled by complainant.

Oct. 18, NDPS 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant reported three fraudulent e-transfers each for $750 from their bank account.  The complainant contacted the bank who indicated they would not be refunded for the fraud as records indicate an unknown individual had access to the account.  Complainant indicated to police they do not know the suspect.  Police contacted the bank who advised the complainant can dispute the bank’s decision.  Complainant not interested in criminal charges but rather return of the money. 

Oct. 20, 8800 Block of 117A Street:  Complainant reported they parked their vehicle in front of their residence and sometime overnight the catalytic converter was stolen.  Canvas of the area proved negative.  Complainant provided with a file number for ICBC.

Oct. 20, 8100 Block of Swenson Way:  Complainant reported their company vehicle was left unlocked in the parking lot of the business.  Sometime overnight the vehicle was entered and an HP printer valued at $150 was stolen.  Investigation continuing pending surveillance video footage from a neighbouring business.

Oct. 21, 8100 Block of Swenson Way:  A business reported a theft sometime overnight from a trailer parked in the company lot.  Suspects gained access to the trailer and stole four mountain bikes.  No information re a description or value of the bikes.  Complainant provided with a file number for insurance purposes.

Oct. 22, 8400 Block of 116A Street:  Complainant reported the theft sometime overnight of a catalytic converter from their vehicle parked at their residence.  Video surveillance may have captured the theft.  Approximate value of the theft $500.  Still under investigation pending receipt of surveillance video.

Oct. 23, 11170 Block of 84th Avenue:  Report received from complainant that sometime overnight the catalytic converter was stolen from their vehicle.  Neighbours may have surveillance video which will be made available to police in order for investigation to continue.

Oct. 23, River Road & Stegavik Court:  Police received a report of a possible impaired driver in a silver SUV Mercedes in the area.  Police patrolled the area but the vehicle was not located.

Oct. 24, 11400 Block of 82nd Avenue:  Police received a report of several youth setting off fireworks towards the secondary school.  Police attended and observed a black Honda Sedan pulling out of the school parking lot.  Police stopped the vehicle occupied by four youth.  The driver and occupants denied using any fireworks that night.  The driver was given a warning for not displaying an “N” and over-packing, and warned all occupants of the vehicle about the use of fireworks.
