This summer borrow more than just books. Introducing Nature Packs and Solar Panel Kits - the newest items in Fraser Valley Regional Library’s (FVRL) Playground lending collection.

“The library continually looks for opportunities to contribute to the vibrant health of our communities as well as the planet,” says Heather Scoular, the Director of Customer Experience. “These items were thoughtfully chosen through that lens. Both items will enhance the borrowers’ outdoor summer experience wherever their adventures take them.”

Nature Packs include walking poles, pocket microscope, a chime for meditation, booklets on how to recognize local plants and animals, and the book Being with Trees. The pack has been curated to help connect its user with nature and the practice of mindfulness. Solar Panel Kits can be used in a variety of outdoor settings from the urban city to the backwoods. The kit allows its user to test out and discover the value and potential of solar power as an alternative sustainable energy source.

The pack and kit, partially funded with the financial support of the Province of British Columbia through the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, are free to borrow with an FVRL card. Place a hold to borrow these sets by visiting fvrl.ca/solarpanels or fvrl.ca/naturepacks. Visit FVRL’s events page to find other upcoming events featuring these and other Playground items.
