Yet another reminder from the DPD

Distracted driving is a leading cause of accidents.

Delta cops continue to dial in on drunk and distracted driving.

The department says online Wednesday that it hauled off 70 impaired drivers from local roads during the month of August, nine more than in July and more than two per day.

“Whether it’s a taxi, bus, or ride-sharing service, anything is better than getting behind the wheel while impaired,” police said.

Police also say they’re focused on September’s distracted driving campaign. Distracted driving is a leading cause of accidents, and police remind motorists to leave their phone alone.

Getting busted for distracted driving can cost four drivers’ licence demerit points and a $368 fine.

“Using your phone — even when stopped at a red light or in heavy traffic — counts as distracted driving,” Delta police said online.
