May 17, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported that they received an email link from what they thought was ICBC regarding the upcoming rebate. They clicked on the link and provided their banking information for a direct deposit. A short time later the complainant felt something was not quite right and contacted ICBC who advised this was a scam. The complainant informed the bank who took appropriate steps, and no money was lost. Nothing to investigate as the complainant had wiped their computer in case of malware.
May 17, 5000 Block of Canoe Pass Way: A business contacted police to report a male had entered the store and selected two power tools and attempted to leave the store without payment. The staff confronted the male, and the tools were recovered. The suspect left the area on a bicycle with a trailer attached. Police attended, but area patrols proved negative. The business provided the police with still photographs of the suspect which have been disseminated for possible identification.
May 18, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported that they received a call from a person claiming to be a police officer. The male suspect claimed the complainant’s nephew had been arrested and he required bail of $2,470. Realizing this to be a scam, the complainant did not cooperate, and no money was lost. Police provided the complainant with a file number and advised the complainant to follow up with the bank.
May 19, 5000 Block of Canoe Pass Way: A business reported a male entered the store and concealed $258 worth of men’s clothing and then left the store without offering payment. Surveillance video was examined and a still photograph of the suspect disseminated for possible identification.
May 20, 6300 Block of Market Avenue: Complainant reported that they received an alert that someone was using their credit card. The complainant indicated they then checked their vehicle parked in front of their residence and found their shoes, insurance documents, and credit card missing. The complainant indicated the credit card had been used at several businesses and has now been cancelled. Police obtained still photographs of two female suspects from surveillance video, which will be disseminated for possible identification.
May 20, 6300 Block of Market Avenue: Complainant reported that they left their unlocked vehicle parked on the street. In the morning, the complainant heard from neighbours that vehicles had been ransacked overnight. On checking their vehicle, the complainant found their vehicle had been entered and rummaged throughout. The items missing included insurance papers and CDs. Police attended and determined the theft to be related to two other incidents of theft from autos. The investigation to continue upon receipt of surveillance video.

May 15, 6100 Block of Ferry Road: Complainant reported that someone gained entry to the cabin of their sailboat, moored at the marina, and stole two VHF radios and some personal effects with a total value of $1,500. As the incident occurred earlier in the month the complainant indicated they were filing the report for information purposes only.
May 16, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported that they received information that a credit check was being done for a fraudulent credit card application in their name. The complainant informed the bank of the fraud, and no card was issued. An alert has been put on the complainant’s accounts by the bank. The complainant has also contacted Equifax and TransUnion to monitor their account.
May 18, 5800 Block of 60th Avenue: While conducting a roadblock, police observed a vehicle speeding through a stop sign. The vehicle was stopped, and it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol earlier in the evening. The driver provided the police with two breath samples, both reading fail. Consequently, the driver was given a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, and a 30-day vehicle impoundment. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver left the area in a taxi.
May 19, 6000 Block of Hwy 17: During a roadside counterattack targeting impaired drivers, police observed a vehicle attempting to evade the roadblock. A traffic stop was conducted, and suspicion of alcohol consumption was made. The driver refused to provide breath samples. Consequently, they were given a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, and a 30-day vehicle impoundment. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver left in a taxi.
May 20, 4800 Block of 43A Street: During a routine patrol, police observed a vehicle which had been reported stolen. The vehicle was parked with the rear driver’s side window smashed but covered with plastic. The vehicle was towed from the scene to be examined by identification services.
