Tsawwassen and TFN
Jan. 24, 10:26 p.m., 4800 block of Salish Sea Way: Police conducted a traffic stop, and while identifying the driver, located drug paraphernalia in plain view. The occupants were arrested for possession without issue, and upon search, police located bags of suspected narcotics, prohibited weapons, and stolen property. Vehicle towed for further analysis. Investigation ongoing.
Jan. 27, 6:56 p.m., 5000 Canoe Pass Way: Police were dispatched to a reported theft in progress by two suspects being monitored by store security. Police attended, located the suspects, and arrested them without issue. Police identified and searched the suspects, locating the items reported as stolen, which included several knives. Police queries also confirmed one suspect had court-ordered conditions not to possess weapons, including knives, and transported them to Surrey Cells.
Jan. 29, 10:01 a.m., Boundary Bay: Police were requested to assist the Canadian Armed Forces with the controlled explosion of a mortar discovered in Vancouver recently. Police held all foot traffic in the area while military personnel cleared the blast zone and detonated the explosive without issue.
Jan. 30, 8:09 a.m., Enderby Avenue: Police were dispatched to a reported theft from vehicle, and subsequently found multiple vehicles in the area had been broken into overnight. All vehicles reportedly left unlocked, and while no damage was reported, several hundred dollars in valuables were taken. Police recommend everyone lock their vehicles and remove all valuables, even when parked at home.
Ladner
Jan. 27, 12:42 p.m., 7200 block of Highway 17: Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling 125 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. Police issued the driver a ticket for excessive speed, and towed their vehicle per the mandatory seven-day requirement for excessive speed violations.
Jan. 28, 8:05 p.m., Highway 17A: Police conducted a traffic stop, and while identifying the driver, found them to be driving contrary to their Class 7 (Learner’s) restriction. The driver called friends to come and drive the vehicle away, but upon arrival, police found the second driver to be breaching their court ordered curfew. Police arrested them without issue and transported them to Surrey Cells.
Jan. 29, 11 a.m., location withheld: Police were dispatched to a reported missing person from an area residence. Police were advised that the missing person suffers from concurrent mental health and addictions issues, and in coordination with VPD members, successfully located the individual and confirmed their well-being.
