Tsawwassen
*June 28, 3200 block of Highway 17: Police conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle travelling 130 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. The driver was given a ticket for excessive speeding with a mandatory seven-day impoundment of the vehicle. A warning ticket was also given for having unauthorized window tint. The driver departed the area via taxi.
*June 29, 400 block of Milson Wynd: Complainant reported a large group of youth passed the property late at night and damaged two wood panels on the fence. Police attended the residence and observed approximately $200 damage.
*June 29, 5000 block of Canoe Pass Way: Police received a report of two people with a seven-year-old child, drinking beer in front of their vehicle in the parking lot and then enter the mall. Police attended and located the vehicle with an open alcoholic beverage in the console. The three exited the mall, entered the vehicle, and left the parking lot. Police conducted a traffic stop and the driver provided one breath sample which read “fail,” then refused to provide a second breath sample and as a result they were given a 90-day immediate roadside suspension and a 30-day vehicle impoundment. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
*June 29, 1400 block of 54th Street: Complainant reported that sometime overnight someone had drilled a hole into the gas tank of their vehicle and siphoned the gas. Damage approximately $2,000.
*June 30, Police headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported they made an online $900 e-transfer for a deposit on a pet, which was to be picked up at the airport. The complainant was then informed they would have to pay a $1,000 crate fee before the animal could be retrieved. An attempt was made by the complainant to contact the seller, but all avenues failed, at which time they realized they had been the victim of fraud. Police advised the complainant to cease all communication with the seller and not send any more money. The incident is still under investigation.
Ladner
*June 29, Deas Island: Police received a report of a damaged truck at the campground. Police attended and found the truck was listed as stolen. The vehicle was towed from the scene and secured for processing. Several power and hand tools were seized from the bed of the truck. The vehicle was stolen with a canopy, but no canopy was recovered.
*June 30, 7500 block of Macdonald Road: Complainant reported the theft sometime during the day of a catalytic converter from their vehicle parked in front of a business. There was no surveillance video or witnesses. File number was provided for an insurance claim. A second incident was also documented in the vicinity, additional area patrols requested.
*July 1, 7400 Block of Hopcott Road: Complainant reported the theft of the catalytic converter from their vehicle left in the parking lot. A driver sitting in a vehicle nearby, when asked if they had observed anything, sped away from the scene. Approximate damage to the vehicle $2,000. Incident is still under investigation for possible surveillance video.
*July 2, 5900 block of Ladner Trunk Road: Police observed the pride flag banners were damaged sometime overnight. Four banners mounted 15 feet from the ground was damaged by black paint being rolled over the banners. Patrol of the area for suspects or suspicious vehicles proved negative.
*July 2, 6000 block of Highway 17A: Complainant reported their vehicle was broken into while parked at the casino. Police attended and observed damage to the driver side lock and ignition. Several tools valued at $700 were missing from the vehicle. The casino will provide police with surveillance video.
