North Delta's Sungod Recreation Centre is now home to new diving blocks in the sunshine pool.

The Delta Sungod Swim Club’s combined several years of fundraising with a minor capital project Community Gaming Grant from the Province of British Columbia to fund the purchase.

With the assistance and support of the City of Delta and Sungod staff, the blocks were installed in early January. While sponsored by the Delta Sungod Swim Club, the blocks can also be used by other community groups and patrons of Sungod Recreation Centre.

On Friday night, members of the swim club were joined by representatives from the City of Delta as well as provincial and federal representatives to officially unveil the blocks as well as acknowledge the fundraising partnerships.

There was also a ribbon cutting ceremony with members of the club along with Mayor George Harvie.
First established in 1985, the Delta Sungod Swim Club has been an important part of the North Delta athletic community for more than 30 years.

The club has produced national level swimmers as well as launching Olympian Gregg Hamm in his swimming career. The club’s mission is to enable and inspire athletes to achieve their goals through hard work and determination. DSSC promotes the sport of swimming while encouraging a strong sense of community in and out of the water.
