Jan. 22, Hwy 17A & Hwy 99: Report received of an abandoned vehicle on the off ramp. Police attended the area, but no vehicle located. Towing company contacted and advised they had towed the vehicle. The owner of the vehicle was notified.
Jan. 23, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant provided a deposit of $3,600 to a person selling cabinet work via Facebook Marketplace. The work was delayed for a period and when the complainant requested a refund, the contractor did not return the messages. Police advised they would investigate the incident.
Jan. 23, Spyglass Crescent: Complainant reported an attempted break and enter. During the night the complainant heard a noise at the side of the house but found nothing on investigation. In the morning they found the wooden frame near the dead bolt was cracked, consistent with an attempt to pry open. The door was not successfully opened, and nothing disturbed in the garage or the outside area. Canvass of the area for video surveillance was negative.
Jan. 26, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant advised that a lawyer called and asked them to pay bail money to get a family member released from jail. The complainant was convinced this was a legitimate request, however, an alert bank employee intervened. Police spoke with complainant about the different phone scams and how to protect themselves and their personal information. Family member was contacted and confirmed they were not in jail. No funds lost to the scammer.
Jan. 27, 5000 Block of Canoe Pass Way: A business reported a group of youths entered the store and one of the youths concealed a black pair of sweatpants valued at $75 and left the store without payment. The store provided a description of the suspect to police who attended and patrolled the area with negative results.
Jan. 27, 4700 Block of Orca Way: Complainant reported the theft of a package containing an $80 ankle brace from their front porch. Surveillance video uploaded for police revealed a male wearing all black with a backpack but face not visible on the footage.
Jan. 28, Pacific Drive and Wesley Drive: A citizen reported they were walking in the area and found an iPhone in a white case lying on the street. Police attended and took custody of the phone. As the phone is locked there is no way of identifying the owner. The phone is heavily cracked on the back and contains what appears to be a room key for a Courtyard hotel. Owner can claim the phone on identification at police headquarters in Ladner.

Jan. 24, Headquarters, 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported $9,000 was fraudulently withdrawn from their business account. The cheques were done via online banking and appear to be cheques written in 2020 and already cashed. The bank account has been frozen, and all funds returned to the complainant.
Jan. 25, 5600 Block of Admiral Lane: Complainant reported the front driver’s side window of their vehicle was broken sometime during the evening. The vehicle was unlocked and was not rummaged through. Canvass of the area for surveillance video negative. No witnesses despite the complainant being home at the time of the incident. File number provided for insurance purposes.
Jan. 26, 5200 Block of Ladner Trunk Road: Complainant reported a group of teenagers were having a party on the first floor of the building. Police attended and found three youth who were having a movie night. Police advised the youth to keep the noise level down for the rest of the evening. One of the youth advised that the party was over and all parties were headed home.
Jan. 26, 5400 Block of Ladner Trunk Road: A business reported a teenage male had entered the store and took a bottle of liquor off the shelf and concealed it in the crotch area of his pants and left the store without payment. The male is described as Caucasian, 16 years old, medium build, and wearing a black North Face puffer and bright red shoes. Still photo from video surveillance obtained for dissemination and possible identification of the suspect.
