UBC grad buys local dental practice

Dr. Jonathan Brown looking forward to being part of Tsawwassen community

There is a new face behind an existing Tsawwassen dental practice.

Dr. Jonathan Brown purchased the practice in Tsawwassen Shopping Centre from Dr. Earle Nind, who is still practicing, back in November.

"It's a beautiful little practice," Brown said.

The University of B.C. grad is currently still maintaining an office in Prince George, where he has practiced for the last 20 years. However, he said he is aiming to focus solely on the Tsawwassen office and settle in the community with his family.

"I'm really looking forward to it," he said. "It seems like a nice, true community.

"I'm really looking forward to becoming part of the community."

Walking into the office feels more like you're entering someone's home than a dental clinic. Brown said it's more of a "boutique" practice with a strong focus on the individual patient, and it's the small size of the operation that allows him to give each patient more oneon-one attention.

"I like to develop very personalized, individual treatment plans based on what the patient's desires are," he said.

Aside from family dentistry, Brown said he can also offer patients general cosmetic dentistry procedures as well as orthodontic treatments. As well, he has done a lot of education in neuromuscular dentistry at the Las Vegas Institute (LVI) for Advance Dental Studies. He is one of only a few hundred dentists worldwide to receive an LVI fellowship in neuromuscular dentistry.

Neuromuscular dentistry is geared towards helping people with issues like chronic headaches, migraines and jaw joint point.

"It allows me to do more comprehensive type treatment," he said.

Dr. Jonathan Brown's practice is located at 1216 56th Street in Tsawwassen. For more information call 604-943-4112 or visit www. myfantasticsmile.com.
