The following are some of the calls of interest the Delta police responded to in the South Delta area between Sunday, Oct. 9 and Sunday, Oct. 16:
Tsawwassen
. October 9, 9: 35 a.m., 1300-block of Farrell Avenue: Complainant reported her car had been stolen. Entry was gained by smashing driver's window and the console was ripped out to start the vehicle.
Vehicle was recovered in Surrey. No witnesses.
. October 9, 6 a.m., 5500-block of 1st Avenue: An unknown suspect drove through the park, ripping up the grass while doing doughnuts. Damage: $2,000.
. October 12, 2: 58 p.m., 1600-block of 53A Street: A 911 call was received from a young girl reporting someone entering the home while she was alone. Upon investigation it was revealed the housekeeper had left the residence for a short time and then returned. No further action required.
. October 12, 4: 40 p.m., 12th Avenue & 56th Street: A witness reported an impaired driver and then followed the vehicle providing updates. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver exhibited an odour of alcohol, slurred speech and admitted to consuming three to four beers. After failing a roadside screening test, the subject was issued a 90-day driving suspension and the vehicle was towed.
. October 16, 10: 45 a.m., 800-block of Tsawwassen Beach Road: Complainant reported apparent tampering with the community mailbox. Two doors appeared to have been pried open and boxes were empty. Canada Post was notified to secure the boxes. Damage: $500.
Ladner
. October 9, 9 a.m., 4500-block of 62nd Street: Complainant reported they parked their car in the driveway and later noticed damage to the door. Police suspect there was an attempt to pry the door open. Nothing was missing from the vehicle.
Neighbourhood inquiries were negative.
. October 9, 4 p.m., 5400-block of 46th Avenue: Complainant reported they had parked their vehicle in the driveway. They locked the doors, but left the trunk closed but unlocked. They later noticed the trunk open and tools valued at $2,520 missing.
. October 10, 5: 30 p.m., 4900-block of Harbour Street: Complainant reported an unknown suspect had pried the lock on an external bike compound. Police located a butter knife that was believed to be used to pry the lock. The knife was submitted to forensics section for evidence. There were no witnesses and no video surveillance.
. October 12, 10: 10 a.m., 3500-block of Arthur Drive: Complainant reported their vehicle was stolen from their driveway. There were no witnesses. The vehicle was locked and all keys were accounted for.
The vehicle was valued at $20,000, with four snow tires valued at $400 in the back.
. October 13, 10 a.m., 4600-block of Clarence Taylor Crescent: Complainant reported that a break and enter had occurred at the ambulance station. Nothing appeared to be missing.
. October 13, 7 p.m., 2100-block of Westham Island Road: Complainant reported an unlocked barn had been entered. Two Skil chainsaws, a Stihl blower and an Airco air wrench were stolen.
. October 15, 12: 45 a.m., 4800-block of 54A Street: Complainant reported unknown male had thrown a rock through the rear window. The suspect fled through a park.
