JV Sun Devils growing in wins and numbers

South Delta topples Earl Marriott to remain perfect after three games

Quarterback Kenny Scott and the South Delta Sun Devils defeated Earl Marriott last week in South Surrey to improve to 3-0 on the season.

South Delta Sun Devils are rolling through their non-conference schedule with a perfect 3-0 record thanks to some excellent work on and off the field.

The Sun Devils defeated Earl Marriott 30-6 last week and will close out their exhibition schedule Thursday when Sullivan Heights visits Dennison Park at 3:30 p.m.

It was back during two-a-day works on late August when only about 10 players were attending on a regular basis. The hope was more would turn out once classes started.

The Devils scrapped just enough players together to pull out a gutsy 30-22 season-opening win against the New West Hyacks. A 36-8 victory against Seaquam followed. The team’s roster has now grown to 22 players thanks to the recruiting of JV head coach Scott Martens, the lone SDSS staff among all the coaches.

The Devils certainly have some talent to work with as a number of players have come over from last year’s South Delta Rams team that captured the Junior Bantam provincial championship.
