The South Delta Rams Football Club is having a fantastic spring flag season. With the huge growth of the sport, the Rams are enjoying the influx of kids learning to play and love the game.

This year, the B.C. Community Football Association's spring flag league has grown from 750 to over 1000 kids. There are five jamborees played across Lower Mainland during the months of May and June and the kids are embracing this fast, 5-on-5 non-contact game.

The Rams have seen their biggest rise in registration at the U12 level. Three teams participated in the regular season and all of them will be going to Kelowna to represent South Delta at this weekend's Provincial Championships. The Rams are also sending one U10, one U14 and a couple U16 teams this year.

According to the Rams organization, one of the biggest reasons the U12 age group has increased in numbers this year is the fact that many of them are hockey players looking for a way to cross-train in the off season.

The players love the short season, the fact that it is outside and that they get to run, pass and catch the football.

The Rams look forward to seeing the sport and the love of football grow as well as, hopefully, bring home some championships from Kelowna.
