There was plenty of local flavour standing on the podium at the end of the weekend after the Ladner Lawn Bowling Club proudly hosted the 2018 B.C. Junior Championships.
Tsawwassen Lawn Bowling Club’s Emma Boyd did the expected — winning her third straight B.C. title.
The 2018 South Delta Secondary graduate defeated Sierra Trueman in the gold medal game and now will represent her province at next month’s Canadian Junior Championships in Winnipeg.Boyd was third at the 2017 event in Nova Scotia.
Rounding out the girls podium finishers was Luci Ewen defeating Tsawwassen’s Amanda Tremblay for the bronze medal.
On the boys side, Ladner Lawn Bowling Club’s Owen Tambley captured bronze with a win over 2017 B.C. champion Trevor Birrell in what was actually a rematch of last year’s final.
In the championship game, Auzzie Chambers defeated Jason Valchar. He will also be heading to Manitoba as the B.C. representative at Nationals. A number of B.C. players are also expected to participate in the open field event.
