The South Delta Sun Devils biggest test will come from a Richmond school when they open play tomorrow at the B.C. "AAA" Boys Soccer Championships in Burnaby.

The Sun Devils have been grouped in a pool that includes the McMath Wildcats, Burnaby South Rebels and North Peace.

The Wildcats are considered one of the pre-tournament favourites having not lost a game this season. The Steveston school edged nearby rival McNair 1-0 in the Vancouver District championship game.

South Delta should have a good idea where it stands after opening day action with scheduled games against Burnaby South and McMath. The Devils advanced to the 16-team tournament by finishing fourth at the Fraser Valley Championships.

The provincial tournament format puts a heavy emphasis on round-robin play with only the winner of each pool group advancing to the semi-finals.

The championships, which take place at the Burnaby West athletic complex, concludes Saturday with placement games starting at 9: 30 a.m. The gold medal match is slated for noon.
