Ladner FC is off to an undefeated 5-0 start in the Fraser Valley Soccer League Division 2.

On Sunday night, Ladner hit the road picking up a 1-0 win over Surrey United.

Cameron Dhaliwal scored the only goal of the game. It was his third of the season.

Goalie Simon Raderecht picked up his first shutout.

Nyan Anderson picked up his third assist to along with two goals.

“We were missing a few guys against Surrey, but we found a way. The first half was our best half of soccer we have played all season,” said assistant coach Jayven Gill. “In the second half we were up 1-0, and Surrey started pushing, but all our subs played big minutes. We were smart and dominant with the ball, and it was just a solid effort.”

Last Sunday night (Sept. 29), Ladner broke a 2-2 tie with 15 minutes to go scoring three goals to defeat Pacific United 5-2 at Dugald Morrison in Ladner.

Bryce Connors had two goals on the night while Anderson, Euan Aitchison and captain Markus Niebuhr rounded out the scoring.

Simon Hawks and Swanson added assists.

Previous results saw Ladner beat Albion United FC 2-1, Spades 4-2, and the Poco Titans 3-1.

Team scoring leaders are Connors with four goals, Dhaliwal with three, Aichison, Anderson, Niebuhr, and Vikram Puri all with two goals apiece.

“We have Eric Swanson back from injury. He played at Capilano College and is a big part of the midfield for us,” said Gill. “He is just a really calming presence for us and has been a huge factor. Simon has been outstanding in net for us. He is making seven or eight saves a game. Sunday night was the least busy he has been, but he was finally rewarded with a shut-out.”

Ladner is on the road Friday for a game against Tzeachten FC. Their next home game is Oct. 19 against GN Sporting set for a 6 p.m. kick-off at Dugald Morrison.
