Cat is an unwelcome visitor

I live on Underhill Drive and own two cats. They are indoor/outdoor cats and have full use of a cat door.

The farthest they roam is across the street and my neighbours know both of them by name.

Unfortunately, an orange cat that is possibly a tomcat has been coming into my house day and night on a regular basis.

I believe it may live on Bayview Drive as I have seen it there several early mornings.

I work from home and can usually chase it away. However, it has been in my house enough times unbeknownst to me that it has irreparably damaged the oak floor under my living room area carpet. As we never go barefoot, I did not notice it until very recently - by accident.

Recently I came home and it was upstairs in my house. It had clawed three spots of the area carpet in our dressing room before I chased it away. It also has lunged after my 18-year old tabby in my house on more than three occasions, which then goes into hiding for hours.

I am hoping the owner will identify himself or herself to me so we can come up with a solution to the problem. I love animals but I cannot turn my house into an armed camp due to some cat. I have enough problems with three raccoons.

Please feel free to contact me via the editor. I would be happy to have to pay for it to be spayed or neutered if this is an amenable solution.

If this is not someone's pet, I might have to contact the SPCA to see what can be done.
