Kirkland House, the heritage home on Arthur Drive, hosted one of the many Canada Day celebrations around Delta.

Its many volunteers have made this a showpiece in the midst of a beautiful piece of property now owned by the Corporation of Delta.

During the afternoon, Colin Campbell, president of the Kirkland House Foundation, paid the annual "rent" to Mayor Lois Jackson - a shiny new loonie!

Then the Delta Police Pipe Band arrived, always a welcome sight on this day.

Thanks to the entertainers, The Circle of Friends band, Tracy Neff and students, and singers from the United Entertainers; the quilters, the bird lady, the railway men, Delta's parks, recreation and culture department, the barbecuers and more, who all made this day special.

It was a great way to celebrate July 1st.
