Delta Secondary's infield greening-up

The new amenity for the school and community is taking shape

The infield at the new Delta Secondary track is greening up. Work got underway this week installing roll after roll of new sod as the project moves towards its November completion date.

According to the city, the track and field are both to be completed and reopened for the public this November, while the grass infield will be open to the public by February 2025.

The construction involves the installation of a modern synthetic track running surface, while the new natural grass playing field will have improved drainage and irrigation systems.

Pedestrian lighting will be installed around the entire perimeter of the track, while there also will be a better pedestrian connection from 45th Avenue to the track and nearby Memorial Park.

Funding for the $5-million project came from the Ministry of Municipal Affairs, BC Growing Community Fund.

Although the city is covering the construction costs, once completed, the new Delta Secondary track will be owned, operated and maintained by Delta School District.
