Delta police impounded several vehicles and ticketed drivers for excessive speeding over the long weekend.

The Delta police traffic enforcement unit had a busy long weekend.

Some of the more notable cases included:

Friday: Two vehicles were caught racing down Nordel Way in North Delta, weaving through traffic at 116 km/h in a 60 zone.

The vehicles were stopped at the Alex Fraser Bridge onramp, impounded for seven days, and the drivers issued $368 tickets.

One vehicle had a nine-month pregnant passenger, underscoring the danger of their reckless speed.

Sunday: Four more vehicles were impounded for excessive speeding, with the first three drivers being ticketed $368 and the vehicles impounded for seven days.

The first vehicle was clocked at 141 km/h in the 3600 block of Hwy 17 (80 zone).

A second vehicle reached 138 km/h in the 7200 block of Hwy 17 (80 zone).

A third vehicle was caught at 140 km/h on Hwy. 17A between Hwy 99 and Ladner Trunk Road (80 zone).

A rental, used as an Uber with a passenger, was seen driving eastbound on Nordel Way in North Delta at 127 km/h in a 60 zone. The driver received a $483 ticket, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
