Starting this week, Delta Police will be outlining their calls for service in the community as well, highlighting an issue or issues of concern for residents, along with tips for the public.
This week DPD are highlighting theft from autos, which has been a reoccurring problem for residents in many areas of our community.
Delta Police calls for service for the week of Feb. 21 to 27, 2022:
Number of completed calls: 492
Number of General Occurrence Reports Created: 398
False/Abandoned 911 calls: 92
Assist Public: 50
Collisions: 14
B&E: 5
Fraud: 9
Last week the DPD had 23 reported theft from auto (TFA) files.
A number of these files were related to catalytic converter thefts.
While police work to identify these thieves, we ask that residents and business owners ensure that, if you cannot park in a secured lot or garage, your driveway is well lit. This acts as a deterrent to thieves. If you have cameras at your house or business, please consider registering your camera with the DPD database at: www.deltapolice.ca.
In files such as TFA's, it helps police know where cameras are, to draw evidence to identify the thieves.
DPD also note, that the most popular vehicles targeted for this type of left are: Prius, Tacoma, Lexus SUVs and the Accord.
