Delta City Hall will reopen Monday for limited services, including paying your property taxes.

Delta City Hall will reopen for tax services and limited public services and meetings on Monday, June 15.

City hall has been closed since March 17 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Public access to city hall is now available for the following Delta business and services:

· Property or utility tax payments

· Regular and special meetings of Delta council (limited capacity)

·  Public hearings (limited capacity)

·  In-person appointments scheduled by the city

On June 2, council approved a COVID-19 Safety Plan for the City of Delta. This plan sets out the measures undertaken by the city to ensure Delta’s operations comply with the provincial health officer’s requirements and employees are protected as facilities reopen.

The new physical distancing requirements in place as part of city hall’s COVID-19 safety plan may increase wait times for allowable in-person services, especially those related to taxation. If you have a question about your bill, contact the city’s taxation office in advance at 604-946-3235 or [email protected] to help expedite the processing of tax payments.

To limit the number of people at city hall, paying property tax bills online or remotely are the preferred methods. This can be done through your bank’s online services, through deltaonline.ca, or you can drop off your payment in the secure drop box outside city hall or North Delta Recreation Centre.

“To protect the public and our staff from the spread of COVID-19, we ask that the public conduct city business online or over the phone if you can,” said Mayor George Harvie. “We continue to take every precaution we can for public safety at city hall and ask that each person needing to visit does the same, including practicing physical distancing and adhering to our new health and safety procedures. If you are unwell, please stay home.”
The city continues to offer a full suite of services online. The following services are still only available online, through electronic or virtual means, with staff working remotely to serve the public:

· Planning and development services (e.g. building permits, land use applications, building inspections)

· Engineering service requests

· Business licences and dog licences

· Tree cutting permits and soil deposit permits

· Other property inquiries or permits

· Property use and compliance (bylaws) calls

· Parks and recreation program registration and inquiries

· Freedom of information requests
