More eateries and service-oriented businesses will soon open as Tsawwassen Commons continues to take shape.

Novy Cheema, associate director of real estate for Gracorp Capital Advisors Inc., said several tenants have opened in the last few months with more to open this summer.

Among those close to opening are Two Stones Grill and SMK Smokery and Bar, which had originally planned to open as Wings but the owner has since changed the name and concept slightly.

Cheema said the restaurants, which will be located in the same area as Wendy’s and Booster Juice, are both completing their tenant improvements and should be open in June.

A Tim Hortons is scheduled to open next month as well.

A number of service-oriented businesses are also on their way, including Tsawwassen Commons Dental, N&N Hair Salon and Live Well Exercise.

“Tsawwassen Commons Dental has been a tenant for a long time and should see their tenant improvements commence in the upcoming weeks,” added Cheema. “N&N is awaiting release of their building permit and should be open late summer, while Live Well Exercise is a medical fitness clinic. They are also awaiting release of their building permit with a target opening of this summer.”

Kahuna Dog, a quick service restaurant serving gourmet hot dogs, does not have a confirmed opening date.

Cheema also confirmed they are in negotiations with a craft beer distillery, but nothing has been finalized yet.

Club 16 Trevor Linden Fitness, which was confirmed in March and will be located next to Home Sense, does not have a confirmed opening date yet, but Cheema said it is likely early to mid-fall.

Anchored by Walmart, Canadian Tire, Rona and others, the 100-store mall on Tsawwassen First Nation land was expected to open in October 2016 in conjunction with the adjacent 200-store Tsawwassen Mills, but a slower than anticipated retail market stalled construction.

Last June, activity on the site increased substantially, with construction at a steady pace ever since.
