A new multi-use pathway will be coming to Nordel Way in North Delta.

On Monday, Delta council approved a contract award to Welder Engineering LLP for the design of the project. The contract is for $107,625.

The project involves the preliminary design, detailed design and construction management for the pathway along the east side of Nordel Way from Weigh Scale Road to River Road.

According to a Delta staff report, the improvements include a 3.5m multi-use pathway, grass boulevards, LED street lighting upgrades, bus stop improvements, pavement markings and related signage.

Construction of the project is scheduled for spring 2022.

“The project will provide a safe and protected cycling route between the Alex Fraser Bridge and River Road,” notes the staff report. “It will also connect to the new multi-use pathway on River Road being constructed as part of the Highway 91/17 upgrade project being undertaken by the province.”
