Delta’s annual Neighbourhood Small Grant program has changed the deadline to apply to Aug 31 and updated the application guidelines to help ease social isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Delta Foundation in partnership with the Vancouver Foundation, have created the new Responsive Neighbourhood Small Grants program this year.
“We’re asking project leaders to think outside the box and create new ways to connect with their neighbours and community,” said Jennifer Graham, NSG Community Coordinator for the Delta Foundation. “It’s about sharing your skills, talents, expertise and kindness with your neighbours, so we can get through these challenging times together.”
To date the Delta Foundation has granted $3,857 for 11 neighbourhood projects.
The project leaders have done an amazing job adapting to the changes this year with some amazing results, said Graham.
Some of the projects funded include: Sunshine Hills Virtual Garden Show, Canada Day – We Love Delta, North Delta Rocks, Neighbourhood Love for Literacy, Back(pack) to School and the Community Garden Music Wall.

Delta residents can still apply for up to $500 in funding for a community project until Aug 31. These projects must comply with all public health guidelines including the restrictions on social gatherings as outlined by the BC Government Public Health.
Applicants will have the option to apply with a neighbor with the proper social distancing protocols in place or to continue to lead a project on their own or with family members.
