The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest.
April 8, 1100 Block of Derwent Way: A business reported that a suspect had cut the perimeter chain link fence and gained access to a parked trailer. Seal cut on the trailer and six boxes of beef products stolen valued at $3,600. Surveillance video from a neighbouring business to be reviewed for evidentiary value.
April 9, Public Safety Building 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant reported a fraudulent bank account had been opened in their name. Bank contacted and account immediately closed with no loss of funds. Equifax contacted and have placed a hold on the account.
April 11, 7000 Block of 120th Street: Complainant reported that their truck was broken into in the parking lot. Several items were stolen including tools, clothes, medications, and groceries with a total value of $2,800. The complainant was confident they had locked the vehicle. Police attended and canvassed the area for surveillance video with negative results.
April 11, Public Safety Building, 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant reported they purchased a Samsung 24 Ultra cell phone for $900 on Facebook Marketplace. Phone received, but not as advertised and Samsung advised that phone is most likely a replica model. All information re the seller removed from Marketplace. No charges sought by complainant but reported for awareness purposes.
April 12, 8100 Block of 120th Street: A Loss Prevention Office contacted police and advised they had arrested three female youth who attempted to steal $250 worth of makeup. Police attended and as the youth had no previous incidents, the store recommended that the youth be released. The parents of the youth contacted and attended the store to pick up their children.
April 12, 900 Block of Cliveden Avenue: Police received a report from the alarm company that a break and enter was in progress at a business. The alarm company indicated they were following the suspects on live feed and provided police with license numbers of the suspect’s vehicles. Police located the vehicles, and the suspects were able to prove they were employees of the business and had not realized they had set off the alarm.
April 14, 8800 Block of 116th Avenue: Complainant reported the theft of their truck from the driveway of a friend’s residence. The local towing companies confirmed they had not removed the vehicle. Neighbourhood surveillance video to be examined for possible identification of suspects.
April 14, 6500 Block of Sunwood Dr: A wallet found in the area was brought into the Public Safety Building. The wallet contains several personal banking cards. Queries for owner proved negative. Wallet can be claimed on identification at Public Safety Building, 11375 84th Avenue.
April 14, 8000 Block of 113B Street: Complainant reported the theft of the catalytic converter from their vehicle. No surveillance video or witnesses. Complainant accepted the assistance of Victim Services.
