The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest.

Here is a snapshot of some of the police files for this week:
Feb. 6, 11:39 p.m., 11600 block of Lyon Road: Police were dispatched to a reported assault disturbance wherein the suspect was breaching their court ordered conditions, however, prior to police arrival, the suspect fled on foot and police were unable to locate them. Police subsequently returned to the residence and the suspect turned themselves in to police, who transported them to Surrey Cells.
Feb. 7, 10:38 a.m., 10000 block of Nordel Court: Police were dispatched to a reported break and enter (B&E) after observing CCTV footage of an unidentifiable suspect cutting a chain-link fence to gain access to a secure lot. The suspect broke into three trailers and stole an unknown quantity of donated items within, in addition to a catalytic converter on a company vehicle.
Feb. 7, 6:38 p.m., 6800 block of Nicholson Road: Police were dispatched to a reported theft of a vehicle from an underground parkade. Police confirmed no signs of forcible entry or CCTV footage in the parking area, and that the vehicle was stolen without keys sometime overnight. Another vehicle parked in the same parkade was forcibly broken into, and had valuables taken from within.
Feb. 8, 11 a.m., 11900 block of 95A Avenue: Police were dispatched to a reported theft from auto after staff noticed a company vehicle had been broken into. No CCTV footage available, and no damage reported.
Feb. 8, 9:15 p.m., 1500 block of Cliveden Avenue: Police were dispatched to an attempted theft after two unidentified suspects tried to steal a toolbox from a business loading bay. Police observed the suspects on CCTV footage cutting the chain securing the tools and walking away before being confronted by on-site staff and fleeing in a white pick-up truck. File under investigation.
Feb. 9, 11:00 a.m., 6500 block of Lyon Road: Police were dispatched to a reported theft of catalytic converter after a resident noted their vehicle had been tampered with while parked outside of their home sometime overnight. No CCTV footage or witnesses.
Feb. 10, 6:13 a.m., 11800 block of 88 Avenue: Police were dispatched to a theft of vehicle without keys from in front of a residence. Police later located the vehicle unoccupied after it crashed into a fence and the suspects fled the scene. No injuries reported. Police seized the vehicle for forensic evaluation. File under investigation.
