May 8, 7300 Block of Vantage Way: A complainant reported that they left their vehicle unlocked in the parking lot of a business and when they returned the vehicle had been entered and rummaged through. Items stolen include $5 in change, an Apple charging cord, emergency tools, black gloves with a total value of $30 in cash. No suspects, witnesses, or surveillance video.

May 10, Public Safety Building, 11375 84th Avenue: A complainant reported that they received an email from what they believed to be Canada Revenue Agency requesting bank info for a gas rebate. The complainant provided their bank info and then found $3,500 withdrawn in 13 different transactions. The bank informed the complainant of the withdrawals and initiated a fraud report and indicated they would likely be able to recover the funds. Police discussed with the complainant the sophistication of current frauds.

May 10, 1500 Cliveden Avenue: A complainant reported the overnight theft of the catalytic converter from their truck. Police provide the complainant with a file number for an ICBC claim.

May 10, 7800 Block of 112th Street: A complainant reported that their pink puma bag containing an iPhone went missing from the recreation centre. The complainant was able to track the location of the phone using the app “Find my iPhone.” The bag and phone were in the possession of three female youths. The incident is still under investigation.

May 12, 11400 Block of 89A Avenue: A complainant reported that they left their truck unlocked and two debit cards were stolen. The complainant became aware of the theft when notification was received from eBay of two purchases the complainant had not made.  The bank card and purchases were cancelled. Equifax was notified to prevent further fraud.

May 12, 11800 Block of 80th Avenue: During a proactive patrol, police observed a vehicle driving without headlights. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver exhibited signs of impairment. The driver provided two breath samples with both reading fail. Consequently, the driver was given a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition, and a 30-day vehicle impoundment. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the driver left on foot.

May 12, 7000 Block of 120th Street: A business reported that a male and female entered the store, selected $200 worth of makeup and fled without payment. Police attended, and located the suspects who were arrested and then released with no charges at the store’s request. The stolen merchandise was recovered. The suspects were issued a ban from the store.
