Aug. 19, Public Safety Building, 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant reported being the victim of online fraud after clicking on a link, through Facebook, to purchase an $80 speaker from Best Buy. After not receiving the item, the complainant contacted Best Buy who had no record of their purchase. The incident was reported for information purposes, police advised the complainant to contact Equifax and report the incident to their bank.

Aug. 23, 11900 Block 83A Avenue: Complainant reported the theft of the catalytic converter from their vehicle, sometime overnight, while parked at their residence. Police attended and conducted a canvass for CCTV and are awaiting results.

Aug. 23, Public Safety Building, 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant reported being the victim of blackmail after sending nude photos to an unknown female on WhatsApp. The complainant had been communicating with an unknown female for about a month before sending photos. The female asked for $50, or they would send photos to the complainant’s contacts. The female then had the complainant purchase and send photos of Apple and Google Play gift cards worth $60. Police advised the complainant to block the number, and not respond any further. Police educated the complainant regarding talking to people they do not know in person and sending money/gift cards over the internet.

Aug. 24, 7000 Block 120th Street: Complainant reported the theft of liquor from a local business by an unknown suspect described as black male, about 23-years-old, slim build with curly black hair tied in a bun, wearing a black hoody with blue stripes and grey sweatpants. Police spoke to staff who advised a $50 bottle of coconut flavored tequila had been stolen. A patrol of the area was conducted for the suspect with negative results. Aug. 24, 8100 Block 120th Street: Complainant reported an unknown male and female were observed concealing items in a bag at a local business. Police attended and located both parties inside the store, both were cooperative with officers and returned all the property. They were issued a store ban by the business and left without further issue.
