Nov. 6, 9100 Block of 119A Street: Complainant reported their vehicle parked in front of their residence broken into sometime over the past week. Items stolen include insurance papers, two cheque books, and a handicap tag. Police advised the complainant to inform their bank and ICBC of the incident.
Nov. 6, 11800 Block of 72nd Avenue: A report received from a citizen indicating they observed a male steal a parcel from their neighbour’s house. Police attended and confirmed the theft. Surveillance video revealed an elderly male, wearing a grey raincoat, blue checkered pajama pants, and black Nike shoes pushing a shopping cart and grabbing the parcel valued at $60.
Nov. 8, Public Safety Building, 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant reported they were selling an item on Facebook Marketplace and fell victim to fraud. A message was received from a person wishing to purchase the item, through negations the complainant provided banking information to the buyer. The complainant then found $1,324 had been transferred from their account to the buyer. Police advised the complainant to never give banking information to an unknown person.
Nov. 8, 7100 Block of 120th Street: A business provided police with the licence number of a vehicle used in the theft of $150 worth of dairy and meat products from the store. Two females were identified as the suspects. Police reviewed the surveillance video; however, the store was not interested in proceeding with charges.
Nov. 10, Public Safety Building, 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant reported they were defrauded of approximately $6,000 US through a marketing scam. The complainant responded to a computer link and made numerous deposits in bitcoin in the belief the deposits would make profits. The complainant did not know to whom the deposits were made but provided the police with the numbers of the deposits. Police educated the complainant on this type of online activity.
