The purpose of the Crime Beat is to educate and inform the public about some of the property crime trends occurring in North Delta and other files of interest. *Feb. 7, 5600 Block of Caddell Drive: Complainant reported their vehicle stolen sometime overnight. The vehicle was locked and parked on an easement in front of the residence. Incident still under investigation with possible surveillance video from neighbours.
*Feb. 8, NDP 11375 84th Avenue: Complainant reported they lost $106 by ordering a pair of shoes that were not delivered. Subsequently they discovered they had not ordered the shoes on the company’s official website and Canada Post informed them the tracking number did not exist. Credit card company contacted and a claim filed.
*Feb. 10, 11900 84th Avenue: Complainant reported the catalytic converter stolen, sometime overnight from their vehicle parked in the driveway of their residence. Canvass of the neighbourhood by police negative. Complainant advised to follow-up with ICBC regarding repair of the vehicle.
*Feb. 11, 8100 Block of 120th Street: A business reported they were holding a male and female in custody for theft. Stolen items recovered valued at $220. The business requested charges as the couple had attended the store on multiple occasions to commit theft. Both parties charged and are required to attend court at a future date. Both released from the scene.
*Feb. 11, 116th Street and 72nd Avenue: Police were notified via the automatic license plate reader of a person who is a prohibited driver. A traffic stop initiated and the driver confirmed as being prohibited. The driver was released at the scene with a future court date and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
*Feb. 12, 11800 80th Avenue: Complainant reported that sometime over the weekend their locked vehicle was broken into while parked in their apartment complex. Both door locks and the ignition had been punch causing $1,000 in damage. A battery booster pack valued at $200 was stolen from the vehicle. No surveillance video in the area. A file number provided for ICBC.
